NEWAG’s Hybrid Wins Grand Prix at Ernest Malinowski Contest at TRAKO 2019
During 13th International TRAKO 2019 Expo in Gdańsk, NEWAG S.A. was awarded the main prize in a prestigious Ernest Malinowski Contest for products and innovations applied in rail industry.
The innovative Hybrid Multiple Unit IMPULS 2 type 36WEh is the first Polish rail vehicle which, apart from electric engines, also has diesel engines, which allows it to travel on non-electrified railway routes. Combining innovative technologies in the new IMPULS has resulted in a much wider range of the vehicle application by train operators.
An official presentation of the vehicle for the EXPO exhibitors and visitors took place during TRAKO 2019 Railway Fair. All visitors had an opportunity to participate in the official unveiling of the vehicle and to visit and check its interior.
The hybrid multiple unit has the seating capacity of approx. 330 passengers including 160 seating capacity. Additionally, the multiple unit is equipped with a passenger counting system and interior monitoring. The interior of IMPULS 2 36WEh is adapted to the needs of passengers with reduced mobility, which enables them to travel comfortably and safely. The vehicle also has WiFi, air-conditioning, electric sockets, USB ports and an application which displays the train’s route.
