Today, NEWAG S.A. signed a contract with Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Lubuskiego [the Marshal Office of Lubuskie Province ] for supply of two new three –section diesel multiple units (DMUs). The value of the order amounts to PLN 43 million. According to the contract, the DMUs will be delivered to the Contracting Authority before the end of 2020.
“In 2020, two cutting-edge trains manufactured by NEWAG will appear. The biggest traffic is along the 203 national road Krzyż – Gorzów Wielkopolski – Berlin. So this is good news for the north of our region, which is of importance to the sustainable development of our province,” said Elżbieta Anna Polek, Marshal of Lubuskie Province.
“We are very glad that we have managed to submit the only tender in these proceedings, which is finalised today by signing the contract. The rail vehicles that we will deliver will meet the latest standards of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability 2014,” said Józef Michalik, Deputy President of NEWAG S.A.
The Diesel Multiple Units will be able to carry up to 400 passengers, including 150 persons on seats, and they will travel with a speed of 130 km/h. The DMUs will be equipped with wi-fi, air-conditioning, electric sockets and USB ports. Disabled passengers will be able to travel safely and comfortably thanks to lifts and specially adjusted train interior. There will also be spaces designated for transporting bicycles. Additionally, the DMUs will have a passenger counting system, interior monitoring system and an application displaying the train’s route.
