IMPULS 2 wins the GOOD DESIGN 2018 Title

It was the 25th edition of the Good Design contest organised by Instytut Wzornictwa Przemysłowego [the Institute of Industrial Design] which awards manufacturers, service providers and designers whose products are  characterised by unique design.  

IMPULS 2 Electric Multiple Unit manufactured by NEWAG which entered the contest received the award and the prestigious GOOD DESIGN title in the category: Transportation. Impuls 2 Electric Multiple Unit stands out because of its design and technological solutions implemented. It is based on the first series of Impuls family of rail vehicles as well as on experience gained by NEWAG in their production and collaboration with our clients.

The Contest jury comprises well-known people related to the field of innovation and design such as J. Emilewicz, Minister of  Entrepreneurship and Technology, J. Lesisz, Chairman of  Polska Agencja Rozwoju  Przedsiębiorczości [Polish Agency for Enterprise Development], dr hab. M. Czudak, professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and dr A. Adamczak, Chairman of the Polish Patent Office.

This year, the Jury granted DOBRY WZÓR 2018 main awards in nine categories: Home, Working Environment, Public Space, Services, Applied Graphics and Packaging, New Manufacturing Materials, Fashion and Accessories and New Technologies. 193 products and services were submitted to  this year’s edition of the contest, whereas 119 products made it to the final stage.

“ We cannot be successful in business today without collaboration between designers, creators, thus with people of culture and manufacturers. We really have a very long and strong tradition of industrial design and good design in Poland and this, as we can observe right now, is a very dynamic development of the discipline,” said Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

This year’s Special Award – Designer 2018, granted by the Chair of the Institute of Industrial Design to the best Polish designer, went to Krystian Kowalski. Special awards of merit for their contribution to Polish design were granted to Prof. Michał Stefanowski for “promoting Polish design abroad” and to Ewa Mickiewicz, the originator of the GOOD DESIGN contest.

The winning products can be viewed free of charge at the post-contest exhibition open from Tuesday to Sunday at the seat of the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw at 5/7 Świętojerska Street until 9 December 2018.
